Understanding attention, behaviour, and learning—so your child can thrive.
Our Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Assessment provides families with clear answers and a practical, strengths‑based plan to support attention, emotional regulation, executive functioning, and learning. Assessments are available in‑clinic (Derrimut), at home or school across Melbourne’s west and north, and via telehealth across Australia—making it easy to access support wherever you are.
Who this is for
Families, educators, or health professionals who have observed patterns such as:
- Difficulty focusing, organising tasks, or following multi‑step instructions
- High activity levels or impulsiveness that affect learning or daily routines
- Emotional ups and downs, frustration, or challenges with self‑regulation
- Executive functioning challenges such as planning, memory, and problem‑solving
- School concerns, including learning impacts or classroom participation
If these signs feel familiar, a structured ADHD assessment can help clarify what’s going on and what supports will make the biggest difference.
What the assessment involves
Our process follows the Australian Evidence‑Based Clinical Practice Guideline for ADHD (AADPA) and integrates SLCN’s holistic developmental framework.
1) Intake & developmental history
Your clinician gathers a detailed developmental profile, listens to your concerns, and identifies your goals for the assessment. This includes understanding how your child functions at home, school, and in social settings.
2) Multi‑method assessment
To ensure accuracy and depth, we combine:
- Clinical interview with caregivers, and where appropriate, with the young person
- Behaviour and executive functioning questionnaires completed by caregivers and teachers
- Observation of attention, impulse control, and regulation in structured and play‑based contexts
- Screening for co‑occurring conditions, such as anxiety, autism, or learning differences, which is recommended in best‑practice ADHD assessments
Optional cognitive or learning assessments may be added when relevant.
3) Functional assessment across SLCN’s eight developmental areas
We examine how attention and executive functioning affect communication, play, daily living, motor skills, social‑emotional development, social thinking, and academic participation—ensuring recommendations strengthen everyday functioning, not just diagnosis.
4) Feedback & written report
You receive a clear, plain‑language explanation of:
- Whether ADHD criteria are met
- Your child’s strengths and support needs
- Tailored, practical recommendations for home, school, and community
- A report that can be shared with your child’s school, paediatrician, and other professionals
What you’ll walk away with
- A clear understanding of your child’s attention and executive functioning profile
- Identification of what’s helping, what’s challenging, and why
- Actionable strategies you can use at home and school
- A pathway for ongoing support (e.g., therapy, parent coaching, school adjustments)
- Guidance on medical pathways when appropriate, consistent with Australian ADHD clinical guidelines
Our approach

- Flexible delivery: available in‑clinic, at home or school, or via telehealth across Australia
- Collaborative: we work with schools, paediatricians, and allied health clinicians to ensure consistent support
