In Social Beginning, children learn the foundational developmental skills needed for social communication and interaction, such as using a finger to touch or point, using consistent approximations for words or signs, responding appropriately to soothing by adults, and imitating familiar vocalizations. The program uses familiar routines and activities to teach a range of specific developmentally early goals that underpin successful and rewarding social interactions. Social Beginning provides a unique, safe environment that allows children to learn at their own pace and in their own way. The program is also appropriate for children who have experienced social difficulties in the past.
